Excursion Itinerary

Experience Edinburgh and the 2027 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on a special shore excursion from Glasgow (Greenock), designed specifically for cruise passengers. Our excursions operate on 11 August and 23 August 2027, with return transport, Edinburgh Castle admission and your Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo ticket included.

Your day begins with morning collection from Greenock Cruise Terminal and a comfortable transfer to the heart of Edinburgh. You'll be dropped close to Edinburgh Castle, where your pre-purchased timed admission ticket is included. Guests are expected to visit the Castle first, with the entry time arranged around the excursion schedule.

After exploring the Castle, the afternoon and early evening are yours to enjoy independently. Discover the historic Royal Mile and Old Town, browse the shops or simply soak up the atmosphere of Edinburgh during its famous August festival season. You'll also need to make your own arrangements for an early evening meal during this free time.

Later, make your way to our designated meeting point in Edinburgh's Old Town, where you'll meet your Tattoo chaperone. It is important that guests arrive on time, as the group will then make its way together to the Castle Esplanade and your allocated seats.

The 2027 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo presents “The Same Heart Beat,” bringing together some of the finest military performers from around the world alongside Scottish and British talent, driven by the musical talents of the Royal Marines and the creativity of the Tattoo Performers.

While the full 2027 line-up has yet to be announced, expect the spectacular military music, pipes and drums, precision displays and international performances for which the Tattoo is famous, enhanced by pyrotechnic effects, lasers, lighting and projections against the dramatic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

After the performance, your chaperone will escort the group back through the busy city centre to your waiting vehicle for the direct return journey to Greenock Cruise Terminal and your ship.

Important information for Cruise Guests

• The Tattoo is an outdoor event, and seating is not under cover. Scottish evenings can be chilly, even in summer, so we strongly recommend warm, layered clothing and a waterproof jacket.

• Umbrellas are not permitted in the stands, as they block the view and spoil the enjoyment of others.

• Pyrotechnic effects, lasers, smoke/haze, and strobe lighting are used throughout the performance. Guests with sensitivities to these effects should take this into account before booking.

• The seating area is steeply tiered and built on a historic cobbled street. Access requires climbing stairs and walking on uneven surfaces.

• We are unable to provide wheelchair-specific seating or access. All guests must be able to make their own way up into the grandstands without assistance.
