Our Outlander adventure begins in the beautifully preserved village of Culross, which was transformed into the fictional village of Cranesmuir for the series. Wander along its cobbled streets, admire the historic buildings and visit the Mercat Cross, where several memorable scenes were filmed. Enjoy time to capture photographs of this charming village before continuing our journey.

Next, we'll explore Doune Castle, instantly recognisable to Outlander fans as Castle Leoch, the home of Clan MacKenzie. With castle admission included in your private excursion price, you'll have time to explore its historic halls, courtyards and impressive medieval architecture. Fans can also enjoy the castle's Outlander connections while discovering the fascinating history behind this iconic filming location.

Our journey continues to the historic town of Linlithgow, where we'll stop for lunch. The town is also home to Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, and another memorable Outlander filming location. The palace's entrance and corridors were used to portray the infamous Wentworth Prison in Season 1. While a visit inside the palace isn't included, your driver-guide can point out its connection to the series as you enjoy some time in the town.

After lunch, we'll visit the dramatic Blackness Castle, affectionately known as the Ship That Never Sailed because of its distinctive shape. Overlooking the Firth of Forth, this imposing fortress doubled as Fort William in Outlander, where some of the series' most dramatic scenes took place. With admission included, you'll have time to explore the castle and enjoy spectacular views across the water.

Our final stop takes us to Midhope Castle, better known to Outlander fans as Lallybroch, the beloved family home of Jamie Fraser. This iconic filming location is a highlight for many visitors, offering the opportunity to see the exterior of the tower house and capture photographs in front of one of the show's most recognisable settings. Admission is payable separately on arrival, and access is subject to the estate's opening arrangements and availability.

At the end of your excursion, your private driver-guide will return you directly to your Edinburgh cruise port, bringing your day exploring the filming locations, history and landscapes of Outlander to a memorable conclusion.

If there's a particular filming location you'd like to spend more time exploring, or a stop you're less interested in, your driver-guide can adjust the pace where possible. Any changes will always be subject to attraction opening times, estate access, traffic conditions and, most importantly, ensuring you are back at your ship in plenty of time.
