Excursion Itinerary

Experience the 2027 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on a shore excursion from Glasgow (Greenock), designed specifically for cruise passengers visiting Scotland. Our 2027 Tattoo excursions operate on 11 August and 23 August 2027, with return transport from Greenock Cruise Terminal and your Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo ticket included.

The 2027 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo presents a brand-new show, “The Same Heart Beat.” The production brings together some of the finest military performers from around the world alongside outstanding Scottish and British talent, driven by the musical talents of the Royal Marines and the creativity of the Tattoo Performers.

While the full 2027 line-up has yet to be announced, you can expect everything that makes the Tattoo such an extraordinary spectacle: the unmistakable sound of pipes and drums echoing around Edinburgh Castle, spectacular military music and precision displays, international performers and the atmospheric finale of the Lone Piper high on the castle battlements. The performance will also feature pyrotechnic special effects, lasers, dramatic lighting and projections across the historic castle setting.

Your evening begins with pick-up directly from Greenock Cruise Terminal in a comfortable vehicle for the journey east to Edinburgh, taking approximately 90 minutes. On arrival, you'll be dropped close to Edinburgh Castle, where your escort will accompany you towards the Castle Esplanade and help you reach your seats.

Your Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo ticket is included as part of the excursion, providing excellent views of this spectacular open-air performance. After the Tattoo, your escort will help guide you back through the busy Edinburgh crowds to rejoin your vehicle for the return journey to Greenock, carefully planned around your ship's schedule.

Combining return transport from Greenock Cruise Port, an included Tattoo ticket and assistance in Edinburgh, this shore excursion offers cruise passengers a convenient and memorable way to experience one of Scotland's most celebrated events during Edinburgh's famous August festival season.

Important information for Cruise Guests

  • The Tattoo is an outdoor event, and seating is not under cover. Scottish evenings can be chilly, even in summer, so we strongly recommend warm, layered clothing and a waterproof jacket.

  • Umbrellas are not permitted in the stands, as they block the view and spoil the enjoyment of others.

  • Pyrotechnic effects, lasers, smoke/haze, and strobe lighting are used throughout the performance. Guests with sensitivities to these effects should take this into account before booking.

  • The seating area is steeply tiered and built on a historic cobbled street. Access requires climbing stairs and walking on uneven surfaces.

  • We are unable to provide wheelchair-specific seating or access. All guests must be able to make their own way up into the grandstands without assistance.
