Excursion Itinerary
Join us for an unforgettable evening as we travel from Greenock Port to experience the world-famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, performed on the spectacular esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.
The 2026 show carries the powerful theme “A Call to Gather” — celebrating unity, shared traditions, and international friendship. While the full line-up has not yet been announced, you can expect the Tattoo’s most iconic features: the Massed Pipes and Drums filling the castle walls with their stirring sound, the thrilling displays of military precision, and the haunting finale of the Lone Piper, silhouetted high on the battlements.
Your evening begins with collection from Greenock Cruise Terminal in a comfortable vehicle for the journey east to Edinburgh (around 90 minutes). On arrival, you’ll be dropped near the Castle Esplanade, where your escort will accompany you directly to your seats. At the end of the performance, you’ll be guided back through the crowds to rejoin your vehicle for the return journey to Greenock — timed to ensure you are safely back on board your ship.
Your ticket is included, providing excellent views of the full 90-minute performance. Each year, the Tattoo combines music, dance, military ceremony, and international acts into a dazzling open-air spectacle — enhanced with pyrotechnics, lighting, and projection effects.
Important information for Cruise Guests
The Tattoo is an outdoor event, and seating is not under cover. Scottish evenings can be chilly, even in summer, so we strongly recommend warm, layered clothing and a waterproof jacket.
Umbrellas are not permitted in the stands, as they block the view and spoil the enjoyment of others.
Pyrotechnic effects, lasers, smoke/haze, and strobe lighting are used throughout the performance. Guests with sensitivities to these effects should take this into account before booking.
The seating area is steeply tiered and built on a historic cobbled street. Access requires climbing stairs and walking on uneven surfaces.
We are unable to provide wheelchair-specific seating or access. All guests must be able to make their own way up into the grandstands without assistance.
